Casa Batlló

Gawk at the genius of Gaudí in Barcelona.

Architect Antoni Gaudí's name is so synonymous with genius that it would be hard to resist paying one of his masterpieces a visit. Casa Batlló, one of the buildings in the strip labeled the "block of discord" in Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona, is just one of his Catalan modernist structures that can't be missed.

Fantastical and full of imagination has often been used to describe Casa Batlló, and it no doubt lived up to that. Gaudi designed the exterior in such a way that the building looks like it's decorated with skulls and bones. However, it is just the design of the balconies and pillars that form such an illusion. Not forgetting the unique roof designed to arch like a dragon’s back! See for yourself how much intricacy was involved in executing this building by visiting the Casa Batlló, but be sure to avoid Christmas and New Years’ Day, as it will be closed.
