Johnathon W Disappointing film from beginning to end that has no of the fun of the original, just playing off sexy images and violent action. The only appeal is Michael Ironside's performance as the villainous Tyler. Outside of that, skip altogether. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review Richard L A mess of a script done no favors by incredibly poor direction and editing, but cool visuals and creative concepts do harken back to better times. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Matthew Z A classic piece of animated cinema and nerd culture. That does not make it a great story, or incredible animation. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Wtf did I just watch? 🫣😖😨🤢🤮🤕 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/24/22 Full Review Audience Member An unexpected improvement upon the original. "Heavy Metal 2000" eschews the anthology format and it's for the better. The story is a play on the first film's themes and in general on tropes such as immortality and obsession, however now it's given time to breathe, showcases said themes much better and is more engaging. Michael Ironside and Billy Idol are great, and the soundtrack, occasional brutality and visuals (with the exception of the horrific, puzzling CGI at the end) are pretty cool. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Horrible voice acting, chopping animation, stinky story and poor music choices. Nothing at all is good with this one. Its really that bad Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/11/21 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jake Cole Slant Magazine Swapping out the anthology format for a single unified narrative, the film suffers from being unable to pad out ideas that barely sustained a single segment of Heavy Metal into feature length.
