Primošten is a small place formed on an island near the coast, recognizable by indigenous stone houses, churches, narrow Mediterranean-style streets with countless bays and islands. Primošten has preserved the atmosphere and all the architectural features of a medieval Mediterranean fishing village. The place is dominated by the church of Sv. George on the highest point of the then island, and the church of Our Lady of Mercy and the chapel of St. George certainly attract attention.

It is located 30 km southeast of Šibenik. The older part of the settlement lies on an island (connected to the mainland by an isthmus), and the newer part on the mainland, along the Adriatic Highway. In front of the coast are the islands of Smokvica, Maslinovik, Lukovnjak, Grbavac and Barilac. The settlement on the island developed in the Middle Ages, was fortified by a rampart and two towers and connected to the mainland by a bridge. In later centuries, the bridge was replaced by an embankment, so Primošten became a peninsula.

Primošten is an important and popular tourist destination for tourists from all over Europe and the world. Primošten is often called the "city of beaches", because of the abundance of its beaches and bathing areas. On the Raduča peninsula, to the north of the town, in a pine forest, there are hotels and beaches with a wide range of facilities.

Today, Primošten is also known for the cultivation of olive oil and wine. Primošten's vineyards of the Babić variety were created on "sparse land" in stone, and with kilometers of stone walls, they are an ode to human work and perseverance. Their painting is also on display in the United Nations headquarters building in New York.

Modern Primošten is full of colorful bars, small shops and souvenir shops scattered through the narrow cobbled streets, and the summer atmosphere is full of sports and entertainment.

Visitors can enjoy at any time of the year in a mild and healthy Mediterranean climate with 2,600 hours of sunshine a year and pleasant average temperatures, 7 ° C in winter and 25 ° C in summer.
