The first structure on the Foxconn site is a 120,000-square-foot "multi-purpose building." The building is part of Foxconn Technology Group's planned $10 billion manufacturing and research complex in Mount Pleasant.

Foxconn Technology Group has bought another 91 acres of farmland just outside its designated development zone, further expanding its Wisconsin real estate holdings.

The latest purchase, for $4.6 million, gives Foxconn 186 acres on the south edge of Sturtevant, kitty-corner from the site of the electronics firm’s planned factory and research complex. Together with purchases of nearby parcels earlier this year, Foxconn paid more than $9.2 million for the 186 acres in Sturtevant.

In late 2017, the company also bought 65 acres about four miles south, in Kenosha County, for $1 million.

The purchases are in addition to Foxconn’s acquisition of land at its primary factory site on nearly 1,200 acres in Mount Pleasant.

A company spokesman did not respond to inquires about the latest land purchase.

Speaking last March about the Kenosha County purchase, Foxconn executive Louis Woo said the company might use that property for such possibilities as a medical facility or a research-and-development site.

Besides the land purchases, Foxconn has bought buildings in downtown Milwaukee, Green Bay and Eau Claire, and has said it will buy one in Racine.
