Brie Larson was overcome in the best way when she met her acting inspiration Jennifer Lopez on the 2024 Golden Globes red carpet.
The Oscar winner was chatting with Entertainment Tonight when she noticed the “Jenny From the Block” singer behind her and began to fangirl, her voice pitching up a full octave in excitement. “Oh, my God. Oh, my—I’m gonna cry. I can’t deal with J.Lo,” she said, trying to get away once she saw Lopez heading toward her. The interviewer tried to comfort Larson by saying everyone gets starstruck, but the Captain Marvel star was having an actual meltdown. “I actually can’t. No, she’s like the reason I wanted to be an actor. I can’t. No.”

Well, too late! They met, and it was adorable. As Larson choked back tears, she hugged Mrs. Affleck and told her, “You mean so much to me. Oh, my God. I saw Selena, and it made me want to be an actor, and you’ve always met so much to me. It’s been a dream of mine. Thank you so much. Your work ethic is so important. Thank you. Oh, my gosh, I’ve been wanting to meet you for a long time. I didn’t think it was going to be right now. I have to go do a shot of tequila or something.” Lopez said she’d already had one. Even though she doesn’t drink. Except when she does.
As Larson hustled off, she shouted out to her mom, because the only person happier than a girl meeting her idol is that girl’s mom.
Given that Brie Larson has starred in gripping dramas like Short Term 12 and Room, and blockbusters like Captain Marvel, Lopez should be pretty darn proud to be her acting inspiration.
So…collab? They both sing, they both act—surely Hollywood can dream up a project they could work on together!
