In recent years, the American stars have dominated the catwalks, rising up through the ranks thanks to international beauty campaigns, designer collaborations and becoming the go-to muses for Chanel, Tommy Hilfiger and Alexander Wang.
However, the models are increasingly facing stiff competition from a new generation of models who have become firm favourites for luxury fashion houses such as Alberta Ferretti, Max Mara and Fendi.
Here is our list of new ‘baby’ supermodels that hot on the heels of the runway heavyweights.

Kerolyn Soares – usually known by just her first name – is a Brazilian model currently signed with IMG. Having walked for the likes of Fendi, Alexander McQueen and Acne in recent seasons, the 24- year-old has modelled for several glossy publications including i-D magazine and campaigns for Prada and Chanel. This season marks her first in New York, with her most standout runway moment to date this month being dressed in a pink sequinned gown at the Alberta Ferreti show during MFW.
The 19-year-old Australian model has a history competing in swimming and equestrian events and is now showing off her athletic figure for brands including Victoria’s Secret, Tom Ford and posing for ELLE Australia.
Based in New York, the model was spotted walking in the Brandon Maxwell NYFW show dressed in a button-down denim jumpsuit and stacked mismatched jewellery.
You’ll recognise Mona from pretty much every notable fashion show this season. In the past three weeks, the 17-year-old has walked in shows for Prada, Burberry, JW Anderson, Victoria Beckham, just two years after winning Denmark’s Elite Model Look competition. She’s also starred in autumn/winter 19 campaigns for Chanel, Max Mara and Prada.
Making her runway debut in February for Balenciaga, the 21-year-old Colombian model has since walked for Prada, Chloé and Calvin Klein. For SS20, Montero has walked for Jil Sander, Helmut Lang, Prada and Jason Wu.
The 18-year-model made her runway debut in Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Valentino Spring 2019 show alongside her idol, Naomi Campbell and seasoned catwalk pro Alek Wek. The US star has since walked for Burberry, Fendi, Lanvin and Simon Rocha. This season, she was spotted in a camel-coloured cropped trench coat and high-waisted grey trousers at Michael Kors and Burberry at the end of London Fashion Week.
Born in Holland, the 20-year-old model has worked for brands including Celine, Chanel and Alexandre Vauthier. This month, she’s walked for the likes of *deep breath* Jason Wu, Anna Sui, Tom Ford Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Ports 1961, Burberry and Alberta Ferreti. Fírinne was photographed walking in the Max Mara SS20 show in a muted grey skirt suit alongside the likes of Gigi Hadid and Kaia Gerber in Milan.
The 5ft 10inch model is new to the fashion scene, opening for Ports 1961’s SS20 show during London Fashion Week before going on to strut her stuff at Victoria Beckham and Burberry. During Milan Fashion Week, Godwin walked alongside the likes of Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid in the Fendi show wearing a baby pink jacket and matching skirt with printed tights and a dusty green-coloured bralet.
Scouted at the age of 16 in 2017, the model has just walked for Margaret Howell, Roland Mouret and J.W. Anderson during London Fashion Week. The self-confessed Burberry lover has previously admitted to wanting to model for ASOS and Topshop.
