Foxconn says Lordstown plant won’t be impacted by separate EV startup bankruptcy filing

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - The bankruptcy filing this week of a second U.S. electric vehicle startup is not expected to impact Foxconn’s manufacturing operations in Lordstown Township, Ohio, the Taiwanese contract manufacturer said on Wednesday.

IndiEV Inc., the Costa Mesa, California-based EV startup, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday. A year ago, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd., better known as Foxconn, tentatively agreed to manufacture prototypes of IndiEV’s electric crossover vehicle, the Indi One, at its Lordstown plant.

“IndiEV’s bankruptcy filing does not impact our other business and manufacturing operations in Ohio nor our continued efforts to find additional customers,” Foxconn said in an emailed statement.
