View of the Byk Karatay madrasa madrasah madrassa. The madrasas madrassas built in Seljukian times were relatively small and had one Ivan only. They were either built around a dome covered courtyard or on a large scale with a longitudinal plan. The facade is crowned by a monumental calligraphy bearing the two color alfiz, which was widely used in the Aleppo region. The muqarnas are arranged in parallel lines. 2009 photograph.
