The 10th annual Puerto Rock Steady Festival (PRS Fest) is scheduled to run from September 21-23, 2023 in New York City.

This year's festival celebrates Latino contributions in Hip-Hop culture and coincides with Hispanic Heritage Month. The festival has also announced its groundbreaking initiative, "Elementos, Part One,” paying homage to the pioneers and legends of Hip -Hop culture such as Charlie Chase (Cold Crush Bros), Jimmy Dee (co-founder of the Rock Steady crew), B-Boy Spy (Crazy Commandos) and Grand Mixer DXT (the first DJ to use the turntable as an instrument). Moderated by Ben Ortiz, collection specialist of the Cornell Hip Hop Collection and Peter Chelala, Paramount  Vice President, Programmatic Advertising Sales.

From the birthplace of Hip-Hop, New York City, the festival takes the spotlight by showcasing the historic "Elementos" initiative which aims to record the stories and accomplishments of the Latino community in Hip Hop's four foundational elements: DJs, MCs, graffiti artists, and breakers. By preserving their narratives, the festival ensures that their legacy continues to inspire generations to come.

“It’s my duty to continue to build on the legacy of early legends and pioneers who were instrumental since the inception of the culture," festival founder, Crazy Legs said. "It’s an honor to celebrate all Latino contributions in Hip-Hop culture as we move into the future."

The festival kicks off with an opening ceremony at Dumbo House in Brooklyn, where industry luminaries, artists, and aficionados will gather to mark the beginning of this immersive experience hosted by D-Story from Sirius XM Radio. Day two takes place in Soho, above the THC NYC Cannabis Museum, with an exclusive experience at the Cola Lounge with performances by Grandmaster Melle Mel of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Large Professor, Smif-N-Wessun, and a lineup of celebrity guest DJs including Lord Finesse (D.I.T.C), and DJ SONI withanEye, DJ Tahleim, and G-BO THE PRO. Day three goes down at Bill’s Super Club, with performances by Grandmaster Melle Mel, DJ Enuff (Hot 97), Break Beat Lou (UBB), DJ EyeSha,Tokyo Rose, DJ SNKR Joe, DJ Marty Rock, and DJ Mack. Highlighting the festivities is a special retrospective exhibition featuring the extraordinary photography of Joe Conzo, "the man who took Hip-Hop baby pictures." His lens captured some of the earliest moments of Hip Hop's evolution, now proudly exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum.
