Persicaria polymorpha

Also known as giant fleeceflower. Ginormous plumes of creamy white dance on a dark green foliage mound for months in Summer , creating a spectacular show. A favorite of garden designers. Not for the faint of heart or tiny gardens. Give this one room to grow as the size will astound you. Makes a fabulous frothy white backdrop or a specimen shrub. Drought tolerant, but appreciates summer water. Tolerates wet feet or boggy areas, making it a choice stream-side or water garden plant or for those perpetually boggy areas where few other things grow. It is fragrant, but not in a good way. The scent is reminiscent of cat urine, so don’t site it by an open window. Perfect for back of the border in sun or part-shade. For me it grows to 5’and can reach 6′ and about 5′ wide. It’s a member of the knotweed family, but Not invasive at all. It doesn’t self- seed and stays put where you plant it. The clump slowly expands, so again… give her some room to put on a grand show. Perennial Zone 3-9
